Here at Little Squirrels, outdoor play and learning plays an important role in our daily routine to support the development of our little ones. We are passionate about getting out little ones outside and free to explore. Being in the outdoor environment helps offer hands on experiences and it develops curiosity, creativity, exploration within their minds. We are very lucky to be situated out in the rural village of Shrawley and we embrace our surrounding environment to support the learning of our little ones. The outdoor environment offers a space where children can develop key areas of development such as balance, coordination, strength and spacial awareness. Promoting outdoor play and learning enables children to build their emotional well being. Having the opportunity to explore nature allows children to feel calm and a sense of connection between themselves and the world surrounding them. Outdoor learning enables children to explore, take risks and follow their own learning and curiosity pathway.
Below are all our policies linked to outdoor learning.

"Children spend extended periods of the day playing outside in the fresh air. They explore nature on local woodland walks."
